About The Wire Association International, Inc. WAI is the industry's cornerstone technical society. With more than 80 years of experience WAI isn't old but it is set in its ways of inspiring today's wire and cable leaders and cultivating tomorrow's pioneers. The WAI network comprises professionals, like yourself, who are at work in more than 70 countries around the globe. Information. WAI connects people with the contacts and information they seek. It organizes: trade shows like Interwire and Wire Expo; educational opportunities—in the form of webinars, workshops, and courses; international conferences; local chapters; plant tours; and networking events. Members receive discounts to attend these events. The source for current technical material, WAI identifies and publishes technical handbooks, technical reports, and reference materials that are available to members at a reduced rate through the WAI Store. And it continually solicits and compiles technical papers, which are presented twice per year at its international conferences. Researchers can access a database of more than 5,400 article abstracts that have been published in conjunction with a WAI event since 1926. WAI has a technical library at headquarters; it enjoys alliances with industry consultants, educational and technical organizations, and an industry historian. Basically, if it has to do with the manufacture or supply of wire and cable, WAI is interested. And it’s most interested in providing you with the information and circumstances that will help you grow your career and your business. WAI’s volunteer network is comprises technical experts, authors, management committee members, chapter leaders, speakers, moderators, advisors, and translators. We can provide an avenue for almost any role you can imagine—whether it involves leadership, mentorship, or your personal career growth. When you become involved with WAI, you regulate your level of participation. International perspective. WAI's chapter program helps to deliver benefits to your door. It’s also successful in that each chapter operates under the WAI umbrella giving all members a view of both local and global issues. WAI chapters have formed throughout the U.S., in India, Italy, and in Poland. Communication. WAI covers the global wire and cable industry with the monthly Wire Journal International publication, which is free to members. It also communicates with members electronically via The WAI Connection—a twice monthly newsletter that keeps the industry in focus from one end of the year to the other. WAI is all about finding and sharing ways to improve value—both to you and to your company. The many networking and fact finding opportunities that exist through WAI are immeasurable. to join WAI Annual membership dues are USD $95 per year, with discounted dues rates for two- and three-year memberships. Plus, if you are located within one of WAI's local chapter regions, your first year chapter dues are free. Membership dues may be tax deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense, but not as a charitable contribution.
